Core Conversations: Strengthening Your Message and Your Midsection! LIMITED
Saturday February 22, 2025 11:00am - 11:50am PST
In this presentation, I’ll merge my academic background with my passion for fitness to explore the cognitive and psychological aspects of group fitness instruction. As fitness professionals, we know that creating a positive, impactful environment is crucial for success—but how often do we consider the psychology behind our interactions, cueing, and mental focus? We’ll dive into the psychological dynamics of group fitness using communication theories, exploring how instructors’ cues are perceived and how participants mentally engage with them. Understanding this communication gap will provide valuable insights into improving the class experience for both sides. Next, we’ll look at how effective communication enhances the mind-to-muscle connection. By focusing on psychological awareness and the ability to connect mentally with specific muscles, participants can boost strength and overall performance. This section will show how instructors can guide that mental focus to maximize results. Finally, we’ll discuss the broader importance of functional training—not just for physical fitness, but for mental well-being. This is where the magic happens: when the psychological benefits and functional movements translate into real-life improvements that keep participants engaged and coming back.
